Do pain killers (opioids) work for persistent pain?
Pain killers are usually used for acute or short term pain. For long-term pain they cause more drama and can make a bad situation even worse. Think of them as your needy long-lost great uncle who shows up on your doorstep. Don’t lend him your 50 bucks to start with.
Can anything be done about chronic pain?
Of course! Pain treatment has changed a lot in the past decade. Recent literature has shown that a psychological approach really works. No medication required.
How do you treat long-term pain?
You’re not going to like this one. Diet, exercise, social connection, and working through things in life that are a source of psychological stress and anxiety. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Who is John Sarno?
Dr Sarno was a pain rehabilitation surgeon who developed and popularized a pain killer free approach to curing chronic pain.

That would be very hard. He passed away in 2017 at the age of 93.
